To all My Brothers' Keeper Employees and Clients: Timesheets: Are legal documents, not allowed to leave the client's books or home. It is now the responsibility of the client or responsible party to make sure that the employee timesheet is correct, no falsifying of hours, hours are correct, no overlapping of hours that are not authorized by share care, etc. The employee signature and the client/responsible party signature are stating that everything is correct. It is a federal crime to commit fraud on your timesheets. If there is more than one PCA at your home, the timesheets from all employees must be submitted to the office all within the same day to be reviewed for overtime, overlapping etc. If not submitted all on the same day could result in late paychecks for all PCAs of that client. There is no stipulation stating that you can not turn in timesheets earlier than the 5 day grace period. Also all new PCAs will not be able to turn hours in until a clearance from DHS is obtained and enrollment is submitted from the office.

On 03/11/2010 the 86th Legislative session is having a hearing, trying to pass moving the stiffer eligibility requirements for PCA of 2 ADLs with NO level 1 behavior to be effective July 1, 2010 instead of July 1, 2011. Also that they are trying to have PCAs pay $50.00 annually to enroll with DHS as a PCA. The bill will accelerate terminations for about 1600 recipients. Please contact your state represenative and senator !!!
We attended the new assessment process, alot of changes, no longer implementing IADLs, ADLs require cuing and constant supervision to complete or hands on assistance to complete the task. With behaviors, the PHN wants to know the description, frequency, intervention and how it affects the client's day. Physical aggresion towards others, self or destruction of property that requires immediate response of another. Increased vulnerability due to cognitive deficits or socially inappropriate behavior, resistive to care, verbal aggresion, physical aggresion towards self, others or destruction of property. Our suggestion is to document, document, document, collect reports from schools etc. The more you have the better the chances of your services not getting a drastic cut. Please call your legilators, call the "You Need To Hear Me" phone number is: 651-603-2009 Leave a short message describing the impact legislative changes have made on your life, friends and family. A zip code will be asked so that a message can be communicated to the correct legislators.
